4S carries out a written risk assessment for your machine. A risk assessment is a legal requirement according Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and has to be conducted by every manufacturer of a machine. According Annex I of the directive:

The manufacturer of machinery or his authorised representative must ensure that a risk assessment is carried
out in order to determine the health and safety requirements which apply to the machinery. The machinery
must then be designed and constructed taking into account the results of the risk assessment.

You might even become a manufacturer of a “new” machine when modifying your machinery in a scope which is not the intended use.
When building partly completed machinery you also have to carry out a risk assessment.

The international standard EN ISO 12100 Safety of machinery – General principles for design – Risk assessment and risk reduction will be the basis of the risk assessment carried out by 4S. This standard is harmonized according Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC which means simplified: When you fulfill the requirements of the standard you also meet the requirements of the directive.
