4S prepares a written safety concept that builds on an existing risk assessment or hazard analysis and translates the protective measures it requires into a normatively correct, implementable solution.
What the safety concept delivers
The risk assessment identifies which protective measures are necessary. The safety concept defines how these measures are to be implemented in detail – for example by working out a detailed Safety Requirements Specification (SRS), determining the required safety distance, or defining how a machine installation needs to be divided into safety zones. This makes it the interface between the risk assessment and the constructional or control-engineering implementation, prepared in a way that best supports the later validation.
Process
- The basis is your existing risk assessment or hazard analysis.
- Detailed elaboration of the measures – distances, SRS requirements, type of interlocking, access protection.
- Coordination with your design or control engineering team, so the concept is directly implementable.

For companies whose risk assessment or hazard analysis already names the necessary measures, but where the concrete normative implementation is still missing or is being requested by the design team.
